A Step Closer to the Bar. What Now?

Another 5 grueling months of studies has passed. It only means that another 10% to the finish line in law school has just been attained. Yes, we’ve just crossed the 30% mark and with barely 70% to go, what seem to be afar is getting nearer and nearer.
This is a time to enjoy our well deserved 2 weeks vacation. A good time to reflect on our inner motives as well. After law school and passing the bar, what’s next?
Great challenges lie ahead of law school. Our families surely look forward to have us back working full time again as a good provider. Our country is in dire need of good leaders to steer its ship to shore. Humanity is shouting for justice because some of our learned leaders lost their way in their navigation to excellence.
Allow me to share a few questions culminated from some of my encounters with people who took time to share their thoughts with me;
If I’m 100% today, how many percent am I when I entered law school in terms of knowledge?
If I am 20% when I entered law school, it would mean that I’m now 5 times better by this time. And what more does tomorrow offers if I continue this quest for knowledge?
With this simple mathematics in mind, can I then conclude that with a steady effort, I can attain great height for whatever I wanted to be and wherever I set my sight on?
How then can I attain great height? Is it a matter of luck? A matter of intellectual gift? Or is it more of a matter of choice?
If I can be great after all, why then should I be great? So that people will build monuments for me? Or so that I can matter in the life of my fellow people?
What then is my motivation of dreaming to become a lawyer? Is becoming a lawyer a dream by itself? Or is it a dream to serve humanity that keeps me wanting to become a lawyer?
My dear friends, the sacrifices demanded in law school are just but a small price to pay compared to the demand of history rested upon you and me.
Carry on and give a good fight, we are inch by inch closer to our dream. Let us walk through this great and noble avenue of life together so that we could share the real joy of life in our twilight.
